The New York Mets are still looking to add players prior to the coming season, according to Sandy Alderson.

"We’re still looking for more players," Alderson said Wednesday. "The offseason develops over time in segments, and right now there are still a lot of players out there. The question with teams is: How much money do they have left and what are their needs?

"I like our team for a couple of reasons. The last three years, the strategy I have tried to articulate is threefold: acquire talent and develop talent, create more payroll flexibility -- we had a lot of long-term contracts that were just not performing -- and, third, try to win as many games as you can without compromising one and two."

The Toronto Blue Jays have had a quiet offseason, but it could have been very different.

Toronto had separate trades for Ian Kinsler and Brett Anderson fall through this winter, according to sources.

The Texas Rangers ended up trading Kinsler to the Detroit Tigers for Prince Fielder.

The Oakland Athletics went ahead and sent Anderson to the Colorado Rockies.

The Kansas City Royals have acquired Carlos Peguero from the Seattle Mariners.

The Royals will send Seattle a player to be named later and or cash considerations.

Peguero, 26, has spent parts of the last three seasons with Seattle. He is a career .195 hitter with nine home runs and 27 RBIs in 219 at-bats in the majors.

The Seattle Mariners expect to make some more moves in the coming weeks, but they sound more like complementary pieces than blockbuster additions.

Jack Zduriencik said he'll be meeting with new team president Kevin Mather in the next few days to talk about things.

"We need to do a few more things," Zduriencik said. "I'd like to add a couple more things to help us."

The San Francisco Giants have acquired David Huff from the New York Yankees in exchange for cash considerations.

The Yankees designated Huff for assignment on Wednesday after they signed Masahiro Tanaka.

The Seattle Mariners don't plan to make another huge signing this offseason, but they are looking to add depth to their starting rotation.

"I don't suspect we'll make a major move but we hopefully will do a couple of things that will be tweaks that help the club certainly for this year," Jack Zduriencik said.

The Chicago Cubs remain interested in adding pitching depth after losing out on Masahiro Tanaka.

However, Chicago will not be in the market for one of the top remaining free agent starters.

The Cubs will not re-sign Scott Baker, but they have been linked to other mid-tier options.

The Boston Red Sox will likely add a player or two through free agency or trade before Spring Training.

Ben Cherington says the club engaged in talks with Masahiro Tanaka, but the expectation is that they aren't finalists for the Japanese right-hander.

Cherington indicated that he could still add a bullpen arm or two, an outfielder, or an infielder.

The Tampa Bay Rays and San Diego Padres have agreed on a trade that will send Logan Forsythe to the American League.

The deal will reportedly include five players, including left-hander Alex Torres, who will move to San Diego. The other players included are expected to be prospects.

The San Diego Padres have been contacted by multiple teams about the availability of Logan Forsythe.

Forsythe, 27, has played second, third, short and the corner outfield spots.

It was reported last week that the New York Yankees inquired about Forsythe.
